Be A Godly Example!
Set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.
~1 Timothy 4:12~
I remember the first time I received a prompting about doing this ministry and how shy I felt about coming out so publicly in my faith. The majority of the past few years I had been doing a lot of stuff related to the tv show Survivor and had gained a reputation as a "super fan-blogger". However as I received the prompting in 2011 to step out into my anointing, I decided to keep that on the downlo so as to speak and complete the season I was doing then start the ministry in earnest.
However as in anything so far up to that point in my walk with God, it wasn't quite that easy. A friend of mine returned for another season on the show and I had promised my Survivor blog as a support base for him. I put it off again until after the season was over when on my final Survivor blog for the season I announced my "retirement".
Still after it was all said and done, the idea made me shy. Garnering the courage to publicly proclaim my faith took a bit. Mainly because I consider my faith such a private and personal walk that it's one of those things so personal I usually shy away from posting exuberantly.
But it was several promptings and talks with God before I stepped right in and just went for it. The first ministry made me so nervous in the process of putting it down on cyberspace.
Because on it I shared of a profound moment when I "met" Christ. You can't get anymore personal than that one. In fact it has become my most viewed one mainly due to the testimony I'm sure.
As a result of sharing this "so personal moment" in my walk, I received a transforming. I started gaining faith in stepping out more and it is becoming easier to share it.
Since my ministry started I have gotten a few private responses of feedback on how a certain post or posts has directly affected a person's life. Or directly blessed their walk with God. I often respond I'm not the one blessing them..it's all God! I'm just a vessel being used for His purposes.
Friends, my sharing my testimony of the stages of this ministry is a way of showing how we can lead others by example. It is very important to share your faith when you can as people do keep an eye on how we walk as disciples of God. You never know when an example you are setting can change a person for the good.
You never know when someone who has been prepared by God to receive His word or Him and your example will lead that person to God or reconcile someone back to God. By holding back setting an example you are instead robbing yourself and someone else of a blessing. Your very example can wrench someone right out of Satan's grasp!
Now I make it a point to post a Scripture at least daily on my Facebook and my Twitter is also a way I share verses or Godly inspired quotes. In fact I am often retweeting Bible verses. As a result people now see a powerful change in me and say I reflect a peace and a purpose. So trust me people do notice!
In closing, our lives in deeds and actions can be a ministry to someone. So as 1 Timothy urges seek out those moments and find the courage and boldness to live your faith. The blessings that come from it are truly worth the effort!
In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.
~Matthew 5:16~
My soul will boast about the LORD. Those who are oppressed will hear it and rejoice.
